Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she was the 49th Vice President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. She is a senator and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was reelected in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the 2nd African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for health care, federal de-scheduling and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is most famous for her direct questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
